A healthy body and a healthy mind are essential for achieving learning potential.
At Hermit Park we provide our students with varied health and physical education opportunities.

A specialist physical education teacher is employed full-time at Hermit Park. Students from all year levels take part in regular weekly lessons.
The Health and Physical Education (HPE) program contains developmental units covering:

Inter school sport
Students in years 5-6 have the opportunity represent Hermit Park in inter-school sport.
Students are selected by teachers who coach the school teams to attend district trials for a particular sport. Preference is given to Year 6 students. The interschool sport program currently runs across three terms throughout the year. Students in these school representative teams travel by bus each week to various community venues to compete against other schools.
The following are some of the sports that have been offered:
Hockey
Netball
Rugby league
Touch football
Football (soccer)
Softball
Basketball
Cricket
Athletics
Futsal
Swimming
Students participating in inter-school sport, may be selected to play in regional or state carnivals.
School carnivals and sporting events
Hermit Park has three sports houses: Melton (Red), Stanton (Yellow) and Castle (Green) which are used as the basis for whole-of-school carnivals and events.
During the year a range of sports events are held including:
Cross country
Athletics carnival
Swimming carnival
Throughout all these events an air of fun and camaraderie is maintained with students dressing up in house colours and cheering each other on as they vie for house honours and individual honours.
Club sports
Many students also compete in club sports in the community including soccer, Australian football league, rugby league, netball, rugby union, swimming, lifesaving, cricket, martial arts, gymnastics, volleyball and more. This translates into active engagement with our physical education program at school.
